7" Liner Operations (Running and Cementing)

1. Hold safety meeting with crews before starting running the liner and report in iadc.

2. Make up plug dropping head on single and lay in v door.

Prepare 10m of chicksan lines.

3. Make up and bakerlock shoe track. Test floating equipment

Make up torques: 7" 35# nvam, min 10850 ft.lbs

Opt 11950 ft.lbs

Max 13050 ft.lbs

Rih 7" liner according to running list, filling up each joint.

Ensure that alternate lh and rh centralisers are used.

4. Make up liner hanger and running tool.

Record weight up =

Weight down =

5. Install Top Drive, break circulation slowly and increase to 1000 l/min max circulating pressure = 50 bar

Pick up string and check liner hanger for leaks. Circulate 6.2 m3 (120% liner content).

7. Install dp wiper.

Rih and fill up dp every stand. Do not allow string to turn.

Restrict running speed to +/ 15 stands /hr.

Space out string for approx. 1 m overstand, no d.p. Tooljoints positionned in the bop. Drift pupjoints.

8. Install plug dropping head, break circ slowly and wash down last single

Do not exceed 2/3 of the hanger setting pressure (50 bar).

Max circ rate = 1000 l/m

9. Record weight up =

Weight down =

10. Tag bottom at 4040 m.

11. Circulate 47.5 m3 (120% liner + string content), while reciprocating the string.

12. Make up surface lines and p/test to 300 bar.

13. Insert 1.75" bronze setting ball.

Pump down at 150 l/m until it seats.

Set liner with 100 bar. (actual = bar).

Whilst maintaining pressure, lower string to check setting.

Slack off liner weight plus an additional 5-10 tonnes

14. If set, shear out seat with +/ 175 bar. (actual = bar)

Circullate b/u

Perform circulation test

400 l/m = bar / 600 l/m = bar / 800 l/m = bar / 1000 l/m = bar

Check losses

15. Set string in slips.

Release setting tool with 25 right hand turns.

16. Connect cement line and cement liner as per cement program.

Cementation 7" liner

1. While running the liner:

Dowell prepare 18 m3 mixwater in pit #2 :

15 m3 drillwater

1500 kg nacl

16 l d47 defoamer

815 l d603 fluid loss reducer

1300 l d604 dispersant

115 l d109 retarder

Transfer 7.7 m3 mixwater into cementing tank

Prepare approx. 3 m3 saturated water in slug pit:

3.0 m3 drill water

300 kg nacl

Pump 1.5 m3 into displacement tank and dump rest.

Then prepare 9 m3 mud push in slug pit:

6.6 m3 fresh water

14 l d144 defoamer

105 kg d149 polymer

Mix and let hydrate for 1 hour then add:

660 kg nacl

Approx. 9000 kg baryte

Make sure sd= 1.90 kg/l

2. Dowell pump 1.5 m3 saturated1 water, followed by 5 m3 mud push.

3. Pressure test lines to 300 bar.

4. Dowell premix cement : 7.7 m3 mixwater with 19 tons of

G+ssa1 cmt to yield 14 m3 of slurry at 1.95 sg.

5. Once slurry ready, pump 13 m3 at 1000 l/min.

4. Close both valves on plug dropping head.

5. Displace cmt lines to mixwater via dump line on floor, close same.

6. Dowell p/test line to 30 bar.

7. Release drill pipe wiperplug.

8. Dowell to pump 3.8 m3 mixwater behind. Follow with 3.0 m3 mud push.

9. Dowell displace with 27.6 m3 of kmg mud from active.

Volume to liner wiperplug = 34.4 m3 (includes spacers)

10. Shear out liner wiper plug at +/ 170 bar.

Should this fail, raise string 50 cm with pressure on, if still no shear, increase pressure in stages to 300 bar.

11. Displace a further 4.7 m3 to bump.

Bump plug with 50 bar over theor.diff.pres (16 bar).

(actual = bar)

12. Dowell pressure test liner to 50 bar above differential for 5 min.

Max. 150 bar.

13. Bleed off pressure, pull out of liner. Allow cmt to equalise and poh to: 3545 m.

(there could be up to 150 m of cmt above liner).

Notes:

A: take 2 x 2 l mixwater samples label clearly and store in mud lab.

B: inform mudlogger of which tanks are to be used during cementation.

C: set oven at 100 deg.c

D: empty space required in mud pits to receive returns is 28 m3

Example 2

Liner running procedure

1. Pressure test cement manifold prior to job.

Hold safety meeting with personnel involved.(record this in the Iadc report)

2. Change top pipe rams for 7" liner rams & test rams to 240 bar

2. Rih with liner as per attached running list.

After installing shoe, check floats (ds to witness).

Use a single drill-collar clamp as a safety clamp until liner weight is 5 tonnes.

Weatherford to pre-install alternate right hand and left hand spiralled centralisers.

Run in hole slowly to avoid pressure surges and fill up each Joint. (metal displacement = 550 ltr / 100m)

M/u torque of 7" vam min opt max

29 lbs/ft vam l80 8460 9400 10340 ft/lbs

3. Make up liner hanger, connect top drive, circulate through

Liner (max. Pump pressure; 50 bar) and observe for leakage in

Liner hanger. (baker engineer + nam ds to wittness)

Circulate liner contents + 20% .

Record the up/down weights of the liner.

4. Rih liner on dp to casing shoe.

Ensure string does not turn in table, especially while making Up drillpipe !.

Fill liner every stand and rih slowly to avoid pressure surges.

Break circulation.(do not exceed 50 bars !! )

5. In shoe m/u plug dropping head on a drifted drill-pipe single and lay out in v-door.

6. Continue rih. Circulate last stand to bottom, tag bottom, pull up 1m (allowing for drill pipe stretch) and space out string such that the circulating head is 2 - 2.5m above the rotary (no pup joints to be inside the bop & drift pups !).

7. Record the up/down weight of the string.

8. Circulate bottoms up + 20% and condition mud. Do not exceed setting pressure of hanger.(+/- 70 bar.)

(if hole conditions allow, reciprocate liner while circulating) But consult Company Representative first !

9. With liner in setting position,drop 1 3/4" hanger setting ball and circulate ball down at +/- 150 l/min.

When ball is seated in landing collar, pressure up and set the Hanger (+/-95 bar to set hanger, record actual setting Pressure).

10. Set down weight of liner + 10 tons to confirm hanger is set. Maintain this down weight throughout the job.

11. If hanger is set, pressure up to shear ball seat (170 bar).

Record actual shear-out pressure.

Break circulation & pump for 10 min.

12. Release setting tool from hanger with 20 turns.

(you can leave the weight on => floating nut)

13. Rig up cement lines and circulate.

Perform a circulating test,in 5 stages,to 1000 l/min,

Observe for losses.

Cementing procedure

1) while running the liner prepare the following;

A). Mixwater in the batchmix tank according to the following recipe;

- 8500 m3 fresh water

- 7.73 dm3 nf - 4e

- 116 kg hdp-100a

- 1113 dm3 microblock

- 46.4 kg scr-100

- 77.3 kg cfr -3

Volume of mixwater should be sufficient for 16.28 m3 of cement Slurry.

Mud engineer to take samples of the drillwater before adding the chemicals and to check for mg / ca / cl levels.

** also take samples after adding the chemicals.**

2) prepair spacers, according to the following recipe;

A) 1 m3 base oil.

B) 6.5 m3 fresh water + 23.4 kg hr -4 + 325 ltr kleen-up.

C) mix-water for scavenger-slurry;

2500 ltr fresh water + 8.7 kg hr -4 (volume of scavenger should be 3 m3.)

D) prepaire during premixing main-slurry the two following back spacers;

1 m3 fresh-water with 3.6 kg hr -4.

1 m3 base-oil.

3) record pit levels before starting to cement.(geodata & drill Crew)

4) rig up t-pice + lo-torque valve in cement line & pressure test Cement line to 350 bar.

5) pump the following;

1 m3 base-oil

5 m3 fresh water + kleenup spacer

6) pre-mix the scavanger-slurry & main-slurry

7) pump; 3 m3 scavenger slurry ( sg; 1.40) 16.3 m3 main slurry ( sg; 1.87)

8) close in on plug-container and flush surface lines through T-pice till clean,close t-pice & open plug plug-container. (DSV to wittness)

9) drop pump-down plug.

10) pump;

1 m3 fresh-water + hr-4 spacer

1 m3 base oil.

11) pump 25636 ltr ioem (calculated string volume ;27636 ltr.)

Slow to +/- 150 l/min after pumping 25 m3 of ioem to observe the pump-down plug landing in the liner wiper-plug.

( total volume pumped now = 2 m3 spacers + 25636 ltr ioem )

** note ; theoretical landing after .... Ltr **

Shear the liner wiper plug with 100 bar (max 200 bar).

** note actual shear pressure.**

After shearing, resume pumping at the maximum rate as

Determined from the circulation test.

Slow down to 150 l/min after pumping in total 37.5 m3 of Ioem to watch bump the liner wiper plug.

(theor.bump after total ; 38446 ltr of ioem)

( calculated string + liner contents; 40446 ltr This is split up in 2 m3 spacers + 38446 ltr ioem .)

Note differential pressure prior bump. (expected differential pressure prior bump; Cement @ top liner ; 40 bar, Cement @ 150 mtr inside the 9-5/8" ; 50 bar)

Bump plug with 50 bar over final circulating pressure.

Nb: observe flowline continuously during displacement and Report immediately any reduction in flow.

12) after bumping plug, release pressure. Check for back flow to ensure floats are holding.

Record pit levels.

13) pressure up to 50 bar.

14) pull up 4m,observe pressure drop,and let cement u-tube.

15) slowly pull up 300 mtr,pump pill & pooh.

16). Lay down liner running tool & prepare next run.

( 8-3/8" teeth roller bit,full gauge nb stab for cleaning Casing down to pbr of liner.)

Barge engineer; cement required for scavenger ; 1810 kg

Cement required for main-slurry; 20540 kg

Fresh water requirements ; 11 m3

Example 3

Cementing programme 7" liner

1. A) dowell premix _____ m3 spacer consisting of :

______ m3 drillwater

______ kg barytes

______ l af1103 ( gals) anti foam

______ l d603 ( gals) fluid loss

______ l ( gals)

B). Dowell premix _____ m3 mixwater consisting of :

______ m3 drillwater

2. Dowell pump ____ m3 spacer ahead.

Pressure test lines to 250 bar.

(= ________tanks +_______ lit)

4. Dowell to pump _______m3 of premix cmt slurry.

5. Close both valves on plug dropping head.

B: inform gearhart of which tanks are to be used during cementation.

( note : total displacement for cmt/spacers is approximately m3 )

C: set oven in gearhart unit at 100 deg.c

D: check sufficient room in mud pits to receive extra mud returned.

7" liner running procedure (programme)

1. Pressure test cement manifold prior to job.

2. Rih with liner as per attached running list.

After installing shoe, check floats (ds to witness).

Use a single joint elevator as a safety clamp until liner

Weight is 5 tonnes.

Weatherford to pre-install alternate right hand and left hand

Spiralled centralisers.

Run in hole slowly to avoid pressure surges and fill up each

Joint.(metal displacement = 661 l/ 100m)

M/u torque of 7" vam min opt max

35 lbs/ft vam 10850 11950 13050 ft/lbs

3. Make up liner hanger, connect top drive, circulate through

Liner (max. Pump pressure; 50 bar) and observe for leakage in

Liner hanger.

Circulate liner contents + 20%.

Record the up/down weights of the liner.

4. Rih liner on dp to casing shoe.

And lay out in v-door.

If hole conditions allow, reciprocate liner while circulating.

9. Set down weight of liner + 10 tons to confirm hanger is set.

10. If hanger is set, pressure up to shear ball seat (170 bar).

Record actual shear out pressure.

Break circulation & pump for 10 min.

11. Release setting tool from hanger with 20 turns.

(you can leave the weight on,floating nut)

12. Slack off 15 tons weight on hanger and maintain throughout job.

13. Rig up cement lines and circulate.

Perform a circulating test,in 5 stages,to 1000 l/min,

Observe for losses.

K02 2

Cementing procedure

1. While running the liner prepare the following;

A). Mixwater in the batchmix tank according to the following recipe;

- m3 fresh water

- kg nacl

- kg hdp-100a

- l microblock

- kg scr-100

- kg hr-25

- l nf-1

Volume of mixwater should be m3 which is sufficient for m3 of cement slurry.

Mud engineer to take samples of the drillwater before adding

The chemicals and to check for mg / ca / cl levels.

Also take samples after adding the chemicals.

B). Halliburton dual purpose spacer, according to the following recipe;

- m3 drill water

- kg nacl

- kg dual spacer mix

- kg microdol 200 to achieve 1.65 sd.

( do not use microdol 325.)

Volume of spacer should be m3.

Drill water must be checked for mg contamination before adding

Chemicals. Take samples.

C). 20 m3 fresh water bentonite spacer sd 1.47 in pit #. Check for mg contamination.

2. Record pit levels before starting to cement.(exlog & drill

Crew)

3. Pump the following;

6 m3 of drillwater. (pressure test lines to 300 bar).

4 m3 of halliburton spacer.

Mix and pump m3 of cement slurry sd 1.93.

4. Pump the surface line volume (300 l) of drillwater spacer, drop

The drill pipe plug and displace the following;

1.0 m3 drillwater

20 m3 fresh water bentonite spacer

M3 k/mg mud

5. Slow to +/- 150 l/min after pumping m3 of total displacement

Volume to observe the dp wiper plug landing in the liner wiper

Plug.(theoretical landing after .... Stk)

Shear the liner wiper plug with 60 bar (max 200 bar).

Note actual shear pressure.

After shearing, resume pumping at the maximum rate as

Determined from the circulation test.

Slow down to 150 l/min after m3 total displacement volume

To bump the liner wiper plug.(theor.bump after ...stk)

Note differential pressure prior bump.

(expected differential pressure prior bump;

Cement @ top liner ;.... Bar

Cement @ 150 mtr inside the 9-5/8" ;.... Bar)

Bump plug with 50 bar over final circulating pressure.

Nb: observe flowline continuously during displacement and report immediately any reduction in flow.

6. After bumping plug, release pressure.

Check for back flow to ensure floats are holding.

Record pit levels.

Pressure up to 50 bar.

Pull up 4m,observe pressure drop,and let cement u-tube.

Pooh setting tool 8 stands (3 stands above toc).

Circulate (straight) the hole clean & pooh.

7. Lay down liner running tool & prepare next run.

( 8-3/8" teeth roller bit,full gauge nb stab for cleaning Casing down to pbr of liner.)
